Several hours on the EC392 from Hamburg to Copenhagen.
Passing forests , flatlands, the border from northern Germany into Denmark, and vast stretches of water. Finally crossing the Great Belt Bridge between Zealand and Funen as the sun sits lower.
Perhaps I will see Copenhagen in the future once more.
But most probably I’ll never meet the people on the train again: the aged German lady and her husband from Heidelberg; the irritated conductor; the divorced Danish guy from Switzerland – now living with his high school sweetheart in Bern; the Dutch young man moving to Denmark as lecturer in economics; the Pakistani businessman who lived all over the world (also a decade in Cape Town) and now settled with his family in Copenhagen; and the quiet, lean built, blond-bearded guy with the strong Nordic eyes and forehead…
