Serendipity

(A post from Cecile's Facebook)

Sixteen years ago Freddie and I decided to drink our very first Guinness. We chose a random pub near our backpackers in Galway, went in and met a friendly guy, Paddy, who introduced us to this famous drink.

We settled at a small table where we were joined by a middle aged couple from Roscommon and later a young French girl. Had a wonderful evening in the increasingly packed pub, singing along with the band and even dancing a bit. I loved the Guinness, Freddie not so much.

Last night we asked Dirk to choose a random pub out of the nearly 500 in Galway. We went in, and it was already quite busy. But someone moved up a bit and we squeezed in at the last open small table… And realised that it was the same pub, and exactly the same small table! How wonderful is that? And then it wasn’t really a surprise that we were joined by a lovely middle aged couple (our age now, haha) from Donegal and a beautiful young French girl! The band came and we sang and I danced with my new friends and the Guinness was as special as ever!

What a coincidence and what a stunning night out! I don’t think we should wait another 16 years!
